The Fifa Women's World Cup has had eyes glued to the TV like never before in women's sport, and I had the pleasure of seeing the Matildas take on (and beat!!!) Denmark live on Monday night. Now, people have been talking about what businesses can learn from sport since the beginning of time, but Monday night got me thinking, what if managers always coached their team with the same belief and intensity as if they were preparing for a World Cup? After all, the stakes are just as high in business - the top performers remain, the poor performers are knocked out. 4 ways you can show up as a

Are you a hedgehog or a fox?
Are you a hedgehog or a fox? A Hedgehog Concept is not a goal, strategy, intention or plan to be the best. It's an understanding of what you CAN be the best at. I read about The Hedgehog Concept at least 6 years ago in Good to Great, I heard it spoken about in podcasts many times over the years, I even remember listening to Brené Brown share that she got a hedgehog cookie jar for the office to constantly keep their Hedgehog front of mind. It wasn't until a few years ago that I finally realised what my hedgehog was, and when I realised, it was a "well duh" moment. For me, it's all about

Whenever I hear this, it reminds me of day I picked up my wedding dress. The store was super busy and the bride before me was still being served when I arrived. After waiting 10-minutes the lady came over and said "Maddie, I'm so sorry for making you wait!" I replied, "No worries... it's Jess by the way." Gallup's latest State of the Global workplace: 2023 Report showed that 67% of Australian's are Quiet Quitting, 8% higher than the global average. Here's the thing though
What would you change?
If I asked you, "what would you change about your workplace to make it better?", what would you say? Chances are, it would be related to engagement or culture, pay and benefits, or wellbeing-work/life balance. Of those listed above, where do you think majority of people sat? Nope, it's not pay and benefits (28%). 41% said engagement or culture. That's almost half! If you want to make your workplace better but don't know where to start, it's here! Here's some direct quotes from Gallup's 2023 State of the Global Workplace Report of what employees want to change around engagement
