You don't need more advice.
You need to know what to focus on.
There’s no shortage of management advice. Between podcasts, books and LinkedIn, there’s more than anyone with an actual team to run could ever get through. That’s not the problem.
The problem is that almost none of it changes anything. Not how you handle the team member who’s underperforming. Not the “difficult conversation” you’ve been putting off. Not how your team performs when you’re not in the room.
Getting better as a manager doesn’t come from consuming more, it comes from consistently working on the few things that shift how you lead, and staying with them long enough for it to actually make a difference.
Introducing The Effective Manager Circle - ongoing development for managers, built to fit around the job, not on top of it. Developed and run by a coach who’s worked with over 400 managers on the areas that genuinely make them more effective.
Stay because it's working, not because you're contracted to.
What you get in the Circle
Monthly live group session
Bring the real management challenges you’re dealing with and work through them live: the team member who’s underperforming, the conversation you’ve been avoiding because you’re not sure how to have it, the accountability that keeps slipping no matter what you try.
Live coaching, straight answers, and the thing most managers never get - hearing how others are handling the same problems. This isn't a webinar you watch - it's a practical session that gives you high value, immediately applicable support that actually changes how you lead your team.
And when you arrive without a challenge of your own, you’ve got front row seats to live case studies you can learn from without ever having to live it. You take the principle, work out how it applies to your team, and bank it for the day you need it. Over a year that’s dozens of real management situations across different teams and industries, and insights on how to unpack problems and develop solutions. No book or podcast gives you that.
Mid-month coachable moment
A focused management coaching insight, delivered by video, midway through the month. Each one is designed to help you think differently and act more effectively, with a clear takeaway you can apply immediately.
Over a year, that’s twelve deliberate shifts in how you manage. Each one is small enough to put into practice straight away, but together they compound into the skills, capabilities, habits and consistency that’ll make you a genuinely effective manager.
Community of managers to learn from, lean on and stay accountable to
The people who understand the job are doing it too. Tap into the collective experience of a committed Circle of managers that will challenge your thinking, share what’s been working for them, and help you follow through.
The Community is a place to raise the questions that are hard to ask internally, share the wins nobody else quite appreciates, and work through what you’re stuck on with people who get it. Knowing the room will ask how it went brings a level of accountability that’s hard to create on your own.
Member library
Every live session is recorded, every coachable moment is added to the member library, and new practical resources are added regularly, so the value keeps building and you can return to what you need, when you need it.
Virtual difficult conversation coach
Access live, virtual coaching support whenever you need it to talk through and prepare for a difficult conversation before you have it.
The virtual coach, developed by Human Tribe, will help you get clear on the real issue, clarify what you want to say and how to say it, and work out how to steer the conversation in a way that engages the other person to come up with the solution for themselves, so you can go into the conversation feeling confident and give yourself the best chance of achieving the outcome you want.
What starts to change
Members stop avoiding the things they know they should be doing and start doing them - the difficult conversation happens (and it's not that difficult after all), the work gets delegated and stays delegated, and people get held accountable.
It happens gradually, the way skills actually get built - one deliberate shift at a time, with steady progress until the harder parts of the job stop feeling so hard. And it’s all backed by a Circle of people who are going through it with you.
What managers say
From managers Jess has trained and coached through Human Tribe.
“Jess' program gave me more confidence to have difficult conversations and a deeper awareness of myself as a manager. I’ve learned to understand and appreciate different behaviours and perspectives, and to adapt my approach so I can lead more effectively. It’s been invaluable in shaping me into a more confident and capable leader.”
Sarah I, Clinical Lead“Jess' training has helped me manage both my workload and my team more effectively. I’ve learned how to approach issues calmly, prioritise what matters, and respond more effectively. I’m better able to stay focused while stepping back to see where I can improve the work environment.”
Adam H, Assets and Facilities Manager“Jess' sessions were engaging, actionable, and immediately relevant to the real challenges managers face every day. I walked away with a new sense of purpose as a leader.”
Beth M, Club ManagerWho the Circle is for
The Circle is for managers who take the job seriously and want to keep getting better at it, whether you’ve been leading a team for six months or six years.
You don’t need to be struggling to belong here - it’s also for the manager whose team is running well right now and who wants to keep it that way. The strongest performers in any field don’t drop their coach the moment things are going well, they keep one precisely because things are going well - that’s when you protect what you’ve built and keep improving.
Some members join after completing the Effective Manager Program and want to keep that momentum going with ongoing support. Others join because they want development that works alongside a full calendar. Either way, you'll be in a room of people who understand exactly what you're going through and will have your back every step of the way.
What the Circle isn't
The Circle isn't a course and it isn't 1:1 coaching - those are different kinds of development, and they suit different moments. This is deliberately light on time, but built for impact. The real work happens in your job, with your team, and the Circle gives you the focus, support and accountability to keep that work moving in the right direction.
If you’re looking at the circle for someone you lead
Capability that isn’t maintained depreciates, the same as anything else you’ve invested in. Nobody services the machinery once and calls it done. The Effective Manager Program builds the capability, the Circle is what stops it fading.
The return shows up in the results for your business - more engagement, stronger performance, and fewer problems landing on your desk.
Coached by Jess Weiss, Owner of Human Tribe
After putting more than 400 managers through the Effective Manager Program, Jess knows the recurring challenges firsthand and the shifts that make a difference. Everything in the Circle draws on that experience: what genuinely makes managers effective, tested in real teams.
“Jess brings real depth of knowledge and genuine care to every session. She has a gift for commanding the room in a way that makes the content easy to absorb, understand, and put into practice straight away.”Leon G, Managing Director
How to join the Circle
Circle membership
Everything above - the monthly live session, mid-month coachable moment, community, virtual difficult conversation coach and member library. No lock-in contract and no minimum term. Limited spots available.
Join the CircleWant to enrol multiple managers from your business?
Enrolling several managers protects the capability you’ve already built and creates a shared language and standard of accountability across the group.
Places are reassignable - if someone moves on, their place passes to another manager and the investment stays in the business.

What if things are going well with my team right now?
You don’t need to be struggling to belong in The Circle. It’s also for the manager whose team is running well right now and who wants to keep it that way. The strongest performers in any field don’t drop their coach the moment things are going well, they keep one precisely because things are going well - that’s when you protect what you’ve built and keep improving.
Plenty of members join without a pressing problem to solve. You’ll still get the coachable moments, the live case studies from other managers, and a place to test your thinking before something becomes an issue... And when something does come up, you’re already in the room.
How does the Circle fit around a full calendar?
Every part of the Circle is designed to make the time you invest useful, relevant and immediately applicable - it fits around the work you’re already doing, rather than adding to it.
The monthly live session gives you a regular opportunity to step back and focus on the ‘being’ rather than the ‘doing’, while still leaving you with practical insights you can take straight back into your role. The coachable moments are bite-sized videos you’ll look forward to each month because they never feel like more work. And between sessions, the virtual coach, Community, and member library are there whenever you need them.
What if I can’t make the live session?
Every live session and coachable moment is recorded and added to the member library, so you can catch up or go back when it suits you. The Community and virtual difficult conversation coach remain available between sessions whenever you need them.
Is there a lock-in contract?
No. Membership is month to month with no minimum term. Stay because it's working, not because you're contracted to - if the Circle isn't earning its place in your week, you can leave any time.
Can my business pay for my membership?
Yes. Memberships can be invoiced directly to your business. If your business is considering membership for several managers, enquire about multiple memberships.
How is this different from the Effective Manager Program?
The Effective Manager Program is a more immersive, content-based program. The Circle is ongoing - lighter, continuous, and built for the long run.
Many members do both: the Effective Manager Program to build the foundations, and the Circle to keep applying and building on them. They serve different purposes, and neither replaces the other; they’re designed to be complementary.
Do I need to have completed the Effective Manager Program?
Individual managers can join the Circle whether or not they’ve completed the Effective Manager Program.
For organisations looking to develop multiple managers, the Circle is designed to complement rather than replace the Effective Manager Program. Where a whole cohort needs structured capability development, the Effective Manager Program remains the stronger starting point, with the Circle providing ongoing application, support and accountability afterwards.
All internal Effective Manager Programs come with three months of complimentary access to the Circle.
When and where are the live sessions held?
Live sessions are held via Zoom on the first Friday of every month at 9:30am Sydney time.
Are the live sessions and Community confidential?
Yes. Members agree to confidentiality terms when joining the Circle, and the expectation is reinforced at the beginning of every live session.
If necessary, you can discuss real workplace situations without using identifying details. What other members share in the live sessions and Community stays within the Circle.

Worried about the time?
It's going to pass anyway.
Twelve months from now, you'll have another year of managing behind you. The Circle is how that year compounds - one deliberate shift at a time, with practical coaching and a room of people behind you. And there's no lock-in, no minimum term, and you can cancel any time: stay because it's working, not because you're contracted to.
